Job summary

AmericanAg®, a global reinsurance provider, invites a Senior Reinsurance Underwriter to join our Schaumburg, IL office in a hybrid role with 20–30% travel. You will build and maintain a rigorous underwriting view of cedents’ portfolios and shape renewal strategies.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in property and casualty reinsurance, multiline underwriting, and professional designations (ARe or CPCU). We offer a competitive salary, quarterly productivity bonus, and strong client leadership

Qualifications

• 3+ years of property and casualty reinsurance experience.
• Multiline treaty reinsurance or primary insurance underwriting experience.
• ARe, CPCU, or another relevant professional designation.
• Knowledge of property and casualty treaty and facultative reinsurance.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and relationship-development skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Power BI, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining a comprehensive underwriting view of each ceding company’s portfolio through quantitative and qualitative analysis, including profitability, pricing, loss trends, concentrations, underwriting practices, emerging risks, and data quality.
• Proactive engagement with ceding companies to build and maintain strong relationships with their underwriting teams and leadership.
• Translating portfolio findings into practical recommendations on treaty terms, retentions, authority, referrals, facultative use, and renewal strategy.
• Improving portfolio performance by analyzing treaty and facultative results, evaluating individual risks and referrals, identifying emerging trends and issues, and providing practical underwriting guidance.
• Conducting underwriting audits and clearly communicating findings and recommendations to client underwriting teams and leadership.
• Collaborating with clients and internal/external partners through reviews, renewal discussions, and other interactions to address portfolio challenges, share insights, and support retention and development.
• Supporting thought leadership and representing the organization through presentations, white papers, industry events, networking, and other opportunities.
