Job summary

AmericanAg® is seeking a Senior Reinsurance Underwriter to join our Schaumburg, IL office in a hybrid role, commuting at least three days a week. Travel will be 20-30% as you manage ceding relationships and portfolio strategy.

You’ll lead portfolio analysis, advise on treaty terms, and drive profitable growth while engaging clients and internal partners. Salary ranges from $115,000 to $140,000 with a production bonus; benefits information is provided.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of property and casualty reinsurance experience
• Multiline treaty reinsurance or primary insurance underwriting experience
• Associate in Reinsurance (ARe), CPCU, or another relevant designation
• Knowledge of property and casualty treaty and facultative reinsurance
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and relationship-development skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite products (Power BI, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining a comprehensive underwriting view of each ceding company’s portfolio through quantitative and qualitative analysis, including profitability, pricing, loss trends, concentrations, underwriting practices, emerging risks, and data quality
• Proactive engagement with our ceding companies to build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with their underwriting teams and leadership
• Translating portfolio findings into practical recommendations on treaty terms, retentions, authority, referrals, facultative use, and renewal strategy
• Improving portfolio performance by analyzing treaty and facultative results, evaluating individual risks and referrals, identifying emerging trends and issues
• Conducting underwriting audits and clearly communicating findings and recommendations to client underwriting teams and leadership
• Collaborating with clients and partners through underwriting reviews, renewal discussions, and other interactions to support client retention and development
• Supporting thought leadership and representing the organization through presentations, white papers, industry events, networking
