Starr, a global leader in commercial insurance, seeks a skilled reinsurance accountant to join our New York team. You will prepare and maintain accounting records for facultative and treaty business, support monthly closes, and drive improvements across processes.

We value advanced Excel skills, strong analytical abilities, and attention to detail. A CPA or insurance designation is preferred, with 3+ years of accounting experience in insurance or reinsurance.

• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain reinsurance accounting records for facultative and treaty business.
• Review and reconcile ceded premium, loss, LAE, commission, and recoverable balances.
• Analyze aged balances and resolve reconciling items.
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Monitor recoverables and aging reports.
• Prepare and submit facultative billings and collection follow-up.
• Perform account reconciliations and maintain supporting documentation.
• Support audits, compliance, SOX, and internal controls.
• Review reinsurance contracts and ensure proper accounting treatment.
• Lead process improvements and automation initiatives.
• Train and mentor junior accountants and offshore resources.
