Job summary

The State of Missouri's Family Support Division, Rehabilitation Services for the Blind, seeks a Senior Rehabilitation Specialist (Job Development Specialist) with base location negotiable. The role develops employment opportunities for blind and visually impaired individuals and trains agency staff in job placement skills.

You will work with employers statewide, analyze placement processes, and provide guidance to vocational counselors on placement contacts and client preparation for employment.

Qualifications

• Two years of professional experience in rehabilitation counseling, job placement, rehabilitation teaching, vocational counseling and guidance, and employment services for individuals with disabilities or related areas.

Responsibilities

• Develops employment opportunities statewide for blind and visually impaired individuals.
• Provides training for vocational rehabilitation counselors in making effective placement contacts and in developing employment opportunities and job seeking skills.
• Provides employers with descriptions and demonstrations of available equipment to assist blind individuals in performing job duties.
• Works with employers to provide information regarding the abilities of blind and visually impaired individuals.
• Maintains necessary case records and employer contact files.
