Job summary

Tive is seeking a Senior Regulatory Compliance Engineer to own global regulatory compliance for all hardware, ensuring products can be legally sold worldwide. You will drive certifications across radio, EMC, safety, and carrier approvals, and lead compliance for new products through the entire lifecycle.

You will collaborate with hardware/RF teams, manage labs and certification bodies, and maintain DoC records while staying ahead of evolving regulations.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 5+ years in global regulatory compliance for wireless, cellular, and battery powered hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Own all product certifications worldwide: radio, EMC, safety, telecom type approvals, and carrier certifications.
  • Lead compliance for new products through NPI, from defining requirements to certification sign-off before launch.
  • Design for compliance with hardware and RF engineering to meet regulatory requirements on the first pass.
  • Keep shipping products compliant through certificate renewals, re-certification after product changes, and tracking of new regulations.
  • Own battery, lithium, and dangerous goods compliance, including airline approvals.
  • Own environmental and labeling requirements, such as RoHS, REACH, WEEE, and regulatory markings.
  • Manage test labs, certification bodies, and in-country representatives, along with the certification budget.
  • Maintain the global compliance tracker and customer-facing certificates.
  • Be the go-to regulatory expert for Sales, Support, and Operations, prioritizing requests based on demand.
  • Partner closely with Trade Compliance so product approvals, markings, and import documents line up with customs and export requirements in each country.
  • Coordinate with external third-party test labs to review test plans, quotations and manage schedules, samples, bug fixes, and re-testing.
  • Prepare, review, and submit technical filings for regional regulatory approvals, including FCC (USA), ISED (Canada), RED/CE (EU), and MIC (Japan).
  • Support hardware engineers colleagues involved in debugging certification failures (SAR, OTA, Protocol, RF EMC) and drive root-cause analysis.
  • Maintain Declaration of Conformity (DoC) records, and compliance summaries for production clearance.

As a Senior Regulatory Compliance Engineer you will own global regulatory compliance for all Tive hardware, so every product can be legally sold and used in every market we serve.

Our ideal candidate has:
  • BS in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years in global regulatory compliance for wireless, cellular, and battery powered hardware
What you’ll be doing:
