Job summary

Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. (AQN), parent company of Liberty, is seeking a senior regulatory accountant to lead complex regulatory accounting, FERC/NARUC reporting, and rate-case support.

You will serve as a subject-matter expert for regulatory financial data, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and audit readiness. In this role, you will partner with Regulatory Affairs, Legal, and finance leadership, lead GAAP-to-regulatory reconciliations, and drive continuous improvement in processes and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
• Five to eight years of progressive accounting and regulatory experience.
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and regulatory accounting.
• Experience supporting filings, rate cases, and data requests.
• Advanced Excel and ability to handle large data sets.
• Experience with SAP, Hyperion/HFM, Workiva, Power BI, PowerPlan, BlackLine.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation and review of financial schedules for regulatory filings and audits.
• Serve as primary financial lead for rate cases and regulatory proceedings.
• Review information from analysts for accuracy and compliance.
• Develop regulatory responses, exhibits, and testimony support.
• Provide SME input on FERC USOA, regulatory assets/liabilities, and cost allocations.
• Lead GAAP-to-regulatory reconciliations and reporting analyses.
• Assess accounting impacts of new regulatory orders and system changes.
• Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs, Legal, auditors, and finance leadership.
• Drive process standardization, controls, and automation.
• Coach and support Level I/II analysts.
