ABOUT UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS Undergraduate Admissions supports outreach and recruitment strategy, admission policy and processes, and yield initiatives for domestic and international first-year, transfer, adult and non-degree students enrolling on the Athens campus and in OHIO Online programs. The Undergraduate Admissions team is comprised of more than 50 full-time staff members, including a talented recruitment team based in Athens, as well as a growing team of strategically positioned staff members in key markets throughout the U.S. and around the world. Undergraduate Admissions supports colleges, schools, and departments in the pursuit of academically specific recruitment and admission goals.

LEADERSHIP PROFILE & POSITION SUMMARY Position Summary: Primarily responsible for recruitment in New Jersey, the Senior Regional Recruitment Manager will also be responsible for recruitment efforts in secondary markets (currently Eastern Pennsylvania and Eastern New York) and tertiary markets (currently Connecticut and Rhode Island).In collaboration with the Director of Access and Strategic Recruitment, this position will assist in establishing out-of-state recruitment goals, recommend solutions on a range of highly complex admission and enrollment processes, and recommend a tactical recruitment plan based on the needs of the territory. The Senior Regional Recruitment Manager initiates, builds, and maintains relationships with constituents within territory while advising on the breadth and depth of opportunities available at OHIO in order to generate enrollment from the territory.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Development and Execution of Recruitment Plans in Assigned Recruitment Territory: Residing in New Jersey, the Senior Regional Recruitment Manager represents the University both on- and off-campus to a wide variety of constituents. Working with minimum direction and supervision from a remote office while also functioning as part of the larger Ohio University Undergraduate team, this self-starter develops and executes recruitment plans for assigned territory; manages activities occurring within the territory or affecting constituents within it. Counsels, advises, and recommends solutions to constituents on a range of highly complex admission and enrollment processes. Assists with establishing out-of-state recruitment goals by leveraging data, advises Undergraduate Admissions of out-of-state territory needs, and recommends a tactical recruitment plan for the assigned territory. Aligns efforts with the University’s strategic enrollment plan, dynamic strategy, and the state of Ohio’s economic and workforce development and educational attainment goals.

Initiates, develops, and maintains relationships with constituents within the territory, including prospective students and their families, secondary and postsecondary personnel, and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process. Proactively coordinating and assisting colleagues in the Athens office, this position plans and executes on- and off-campus events to support recruitment, admission, and yield, not only for the assigned territory but also for broader audiences. Advises Undergraduate Admissions of the needs of the area while also connecting constituents with the appropriate on-campus offices.

Maintains thorough knowledge of trends in the field of admissions and advises constituents on the breadth and depth of opportunities available at OHIO . This advising occurs through in-person and virtual information sessions, individual appointments, phone calls, e-mails, online chats, and interactions within the University’s constituent relationship management system. Manages assigned recruitment, admission, and yield initiatives and projects on behalf of Undergraduate Admissions and contributes to the success of other initiatives designed to identify, attract, and enroll students in Ohio University’s undergraduate programs. Develops and maintains reports and proactively analyzes data and trends to recommend timely and forward-thinking adjustments to strategy. Suggests procedures and training based on understanding of practices in the area. Serves as a mentor to junior staff members and may serve in a leadership role for committees and workgroups or serve as a liaison with other areas within the enrollment management division.

Evaluates applications and supplemental materials for the purposes of making admission decisions. Conducts thorough, holistic, selective review of an applicant’s candidacy. Determines necessary documentation to support an admission decision and recommends appropriate alternative pathways when admission cannot be offered. Serves on Committee Review Panel, representing and deliberating concerns about applicants’ candidacy. Monitors and analyzes historical and current recruitment and admission data and trends and uses information in decision-making. Provides excellent customer service by being highly visible, responsive and attentive to prospective students, constituents, and external stakeholder needs and inquires, reacting in a timely manner, and utilizing the unique opportunity to provide services as a member of the community. Adheres to the university recruiting and admissions guidelines and standards and ethical standards in the profession.

Advises and counsels other recruitment staff members on appropriate non-resident recruitment strategies and tactics. May be assigned responsibilities in selection, hiring, management, supervision of student workers or student ambassadors. May assist in management of temporary personnel. May assist in management of volunteer student, faculty, staff, or alumni personnel. May serve as an advisor to a registered student association affiliated with Undergraduate Admissions.

Significant travel, including some overnights and weekends, within the territory between early September to mid-November and mid-January to mid-April is required. Periodic travel to Ohio University’s campus for training, on-campus events, and interaction with admissions staff and university colleagues is also expected. Minimum Qualifications The successful candidate will reside in New Jersey and have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in any field conferred by start date and a minimum of four years of directly related experience and 12 months or less of management experience. Ability to travel independently up to twelve weeks annually within recruitment area (intermittent; travel requirements vary by position). Demonstrated interpersonal communication and public speaking skills. Preferred Qualifications Candidates with a master’s degree are strongly preferred, but not required. Department Admissions Pay Rate Based on extensive benchmarking data, the Senior Regional Recruitment Manager position is mapped to Pay Grade 19 at OHIO , with a target hiring range of $68,299 – $92,205. The exact base salary for the selected candidate will be negotiable, commensurate with education and experience, and competitive in the field within the context of similarly situated positions at public universities nationally.
