Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced estimator to lead estimating efforts across regions, overseeing budgets, staffing, and work assignments. The role collaborates with project managers to procure and price subcontracts and change orders while maintaining cost databases and historical bid data.

The ideal candidate has extensive estimating experience, the ability to interpret drawings and specs, and strong communication skills to coordinate with design leads.

Qualifications

• 10 years of related experience with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency depends on duties.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience can substitute for a degree.
• Reads and interprets drawings and specifications; performs conceptual estimates.

Responsibilities

• Manages and administers estimating functions for a region or group.
• Implements estimating policies to meet corporate objectives.
• Assists project managers in negotiating POs, subcontracts, and changes.
• Supervises preparation of market cost studies and database updates.
• Reviews project details and provides strategy recommendations.
• Coordinates with design leads for cost effectiveness and constructability.
• Ensures standardized use of estimating systems and data maintenance.
• Maintains historical data for estimating man-hours and bids.
• Reviews final estimates and proposals for accuracy and completeness.
• Contacts subcontractors and suppliers for outsource pricing.
