Position Overview

High Point University Undergraduate Admissions Senior Regional Admissions Counselor serves as a key member of the Undergraduate Admissions team in a remote capacity. The role focuses on developing and executing a strategic recruitment plan within an assigned geographic territory, identifying, engaging, and enrolling academically qualified students while representing the university’s mission and values.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Must reside within Minneapolis (MN), St. Louis (MO), or Kansas City (KS) and maintain convenient access to a major airport.
  • 3-5 years of experience in college admissions, recruitment, or a related field.
  • Experience in sales, counseling, or customer engagement strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing competing priorities.
  • Strategic thinking and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • High level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Experience in counseling, sales, or customer service with an entrepreneurial spirit preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record and must be insurable.
  • Willingness to travel extensively; night and weekend work required.
Essential Functions
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive, data-driven recruitment strategy for the assigned region.
  • Establish and monitor goals related to inquiries, applications, campus visits, admits, and enrollments.
  • Analyze territory performance and adjust strategies to meet enrollment objectives.
  • Build meaningful relationships with prospective students and families through in-person and virtual interactions.
  • Clearly articulate the value of the university experience across all stages of the admissions funnel.
  • Provide personalized guidance to prospective students throughout the admissions process.
  • Ensure timely follow-up and consistent communication with all stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with high school and independent counselors.
  • Identify and prioritize key schools and organizations to maximize recruitment impact.
  • Coordinate counselor engagement opportunities, including campus visits and events.
  • Evaluate applications and render admissions decisions in partnership with university leadership.
  • Ensure alignment with institutional standards and enrollment goals.
  • Travel extensively within the assigned region to attend college fairs, high school visits, recruitment events, and more (approximately 6-10 weeks in fall, 3-4 weeks in spring, and additional travel as needed in summer).
  • Represent the university at on-campus events and participate in training and collaboration, approximately 5-7 times per year.
  • Utilize CRM systems to manage communications, track engagement, and maintain accurate records.
  • Contribute to broader admissions initiatives, including active participation in committee work and cross-functional support.
  • Foster a collaborative and professional team environment.
