Job summary

The City of Folsom is seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist to join the Waste & Recycling Division. The role focuses on recycling compliance programs, providing technical assistance, inspections and enforcement within the community, and program development.

This in-office position requires interaction with the public. Under supervision, the incumbent will manage projects, budgets, and training, with duties spanning education, data reporting, and policy compliance across recycling, hazardous

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree as listed above.
• 3+ years in recycling or environmental program development preferred.
• Hazardous Waste Ops (40-hr) and DOT HazMat training required.
• California Class C driver license required or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Assign and monitor the work of lower level staff.
• Develop environmental program designs and operating procedures.
• Provide technical assistance for recycling programs and waste management.
• Prepare and submit grant applications; oversee implementation.
• Assist in budget development and administration.
• Prepare outreach materials—flyers, presentations, social media posts.
• Develop RFPs and oversee contracts.
