Job summary

City of Sacramento seeks up to three Senior Recreation Aide for non-career, part-time/seasonal roles. Work up to 18 hours weekly Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays, supporting Youth Civic Engagement and Youth Workforce Development divisions.

Duties include planning, facilitating, and implementing program components and events within city recreation services. The role requires supervising Recreation Aides, coordinating activities, and performing clerical tasks.

Qualifications

• Six months of full-time experience comparable to a Recreation Aide with the City of Sacramento.
• Age: Must be at least 16 years old at time of appointment.
• Pass a criminal background check.
• Pass a tuberculosis screening test.
• Employees must complete 'Mandated Reporter' training within two weeks of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and train Recreation Aides or other lower level City staff.
• Lead and monitor various activities in arts and crafts, sports, games, simple dramatics, workshops, meetings, and community events.
• Promote neighborhood and community recreation events and programs.
• Request, issue, and monitor the return of playground and athletic equipment; inspect equipment for care and use.
• Open and close facilities; monitor facility use and prepare spaces for activities.
• Log data and maintain simple written records for assigned programs.
• Handle money and operate registration and cash drawer systems.
