Job summary

Phantom AI in Mountain View, CA is seeking a Senior/Staff System Software Engineer for the ADAS Vision Platform. You will own the runtime infrastructure, guarantee real-time performance, and drive portability across automotive hardware and software stacks.

You will design data replay, simulation, and regression-testing systems, while enabling AI-assisted engineering workflows and maintaining strict safety compliance with ISO 26262 and ISO 21434.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of system software experience in real-time/embedded environments.
• Expert-level C++ (and solid C) with real hardware debugging in RT contexts.
• Strong OS and computer architecture understanding (scheduling, memory, IPC).
• Experience with ROS or ROS2—design nodes, messages, bag data.
• Fluent in serialization/middleware (Protobuf, DDS, ZeroMQ) and networking.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools.

Responsibilities

• Own runtime infrastructure of a real-time vision system, including task orchestration and deterministic data flow.
• Build portable infrastructure for target ECUs, developer desks, and scaled datasets.
• Design data replay, simulation, and regression-testing systems for fast development loops.
• Keep stack portable across compute platforms and DNN runtimes from GPUs to automotive SoCs.
• Design real-time communication paths connecting vision system to vehicle platforms.
• Develop to ISO 26262 and ISO 21434 safety standards without slowing development.
• Advance AI-assisted engineering workflows and code-review/test generation.
