Job summary

Seurat Technologies, based in Massachusetts, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to develop real-time machine-control software in C++ and C#/.NET for advanced additive manufacturing systems. The role involves hardware integration, debugging across software and hardware domains, and close collaboration with controls, electrical, and manufacturing teams.

You will design robust software for gas flow, motion, timing, and communication systems, and help extend LLNL-origin Area Printing capabilities.

Qualifications

• OOA/OOD translating ambiguous machine requirements into maintainable designs.
• Strong professional experience with modern C++ in hardware-related environments.
• Strong professional experience with C#/.NET for HMI, tooling, and backend software.
• Ability to independently debug complex software and machine behavior across C++, C#, real-time systems, and hardware interfaces.
• Understanding of industrial automation concepts (sensors, actuators, PLCs, safety, interlocks).
• Experience designing GUI/HMI for complex control systems.
• Comfort working directly with machines in lab/factory environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and troubleshoot real-time C++ machine-control software.
• Develop and maintain C#/.NET HMI and diagnostics software.
• Integrate and debug industrial automation hardware (EtherCAT I/O, safety interfaces, motion systems).
• Support bring-up, commissioning, and production troubleshooting; root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with controls, electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams.
• Improve fault handling, diagnostics, and recovery workflows.
• Maintain shared software libraries and deployment support.
• Document designs, test plans, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor engineers.
