Redwood Materials seeks an experienced Staff Controls Engineer to design, build, and debug best-in-class controls systems for battery recycling facilities. The role spans real-time software, PLC programming, and automation integration across sensors, drives, and networks.

You will lead system architecture decisions, mentor engineers, and contribute to safe, scalable automation platforms. This full-time position offers competitive compensation commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in C++ for real-time/embedded systems.
• Experience with Python for automation/tools.
• Hands-on Structured Text for PLCs/industrial controllers.
• Understanding of deterministic execution, concurrency, hardware-software interaction.
• Experience with Modbus, EtherNet/IP, OPC UA, PROFINET.
• Ability to lead complex engineering efforts while coding.
• Excellent debugging across software, hardware, and networks.

Responsabilités

• Design and implement real-time control software in C++ for embedded/industrial systems.
• Develop automation tools and scripts in Python.
• Write Structured Text for PLCs and controllers.
• Design UL508A-compliant control panels with HV/LV distribution and instrumentation.
• Build deterministic control loops and safety-critical routines.
• Integrate software with sensors, actuators, drives, and industrial networks.
• Debug timing, concurrency, hardware interfaces, and protocols.
• Lead system architecture decisions for control platforms and distributed automation.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement long-term fixes.
• Mentor engineers in real-time programming and PLC development.
