Job summary

City of Plant City seeks a General Counsel to partner with the President and executive team, leading legal strategy for real estate acquisitions, development, and financing, with emphasis on structuring, negotiating, and documenting complex transactions.

The role also oversees employment and labor matters across multiple hospitality, gaming, and development entities, manages outside counsel, and protects the organization from legal, regulatory, and contractual risk.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of legal experience in real estate development or investment.
• Experience leading legal strategy for real estate acquisitions, development, and financing.
• Strong drafting skills for complex transaction documents.
• Experience managing outside counsel and legal budgets.
• Active Florida Bar membership or eligibility with House Counsel option.
• Preferred: experience with gaming/hospitality licensing.

Responsibilities

• Lead legal strategy for real estate transactions from term sheet to closing.
• Structure and negotiate construction loans, mezzanine debt, and equity.
• Draft purchase agreements, loan documents, and leases.
• Oversee employment and labor matters across multiple entities.
• Manage compliance and risk across gaming and hospitality operations.
• Lead litigation strategy and manage outside counsel.
