Job summary

Related Affordable is seeking a Senior Accountant to support a diverse portfolio of affordable residential properties and tax credit assets. You will handle daily accounting, period-end closes, and cash flow analysis while partnering with property teams and leadership to produce monthly and quarterly reports.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in real estate accounting, a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, and preferably a CPA. Remote work with collaboration across US time zones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related discipline.
• 2+ years real estate accounting experience.
• CPA certification preferred.
• Knowledge of JD Edwards, RealPage, Yardi, or other property management software is a plus.
• Federal and local housing agency reporting experience.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
• Clear communicator with senior leaders.
• Superior organizational skills.
• Strong accountability and proactive problem-solving with continuous learning.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily accounting activities and cash management for assigned properties.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and journal entries.
• Process job cost requisitions, capital calls, and advance requests.
• Support monthly cash flow forecasting with Controllers/Asset Managers.
• Assist with closings and GAAP reporting.
• Create reporting templates using Excel or JD Edwards.
• Interface with auditors and regulators as needed.
