Job summary

Levin Management Corporation in Central New Jersey seeks an experienced Property Accountant to manage accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial real estate properties. The ideal candidate has 4+ years of property accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and proficiency in Excel, month-end close, and financial analysis.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of accounting experience in commercial real estate or property accounting.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Experience with month-end close and preparing property-level financial statements.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with complex formulas and financial analysis.
• Experience with real estate accounting systems such as Yardi or MRI.

Responsibilities

• Manage the monthly general ledger close for an assigned portfolio of properties, ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and other property-level accounting transactions.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accurate, complete financial records.
• Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies as needed.
• Prepare, analyze, and report monthly and quarterly property financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
• Perform variance analysis against budgets, forecasts, and prior-period results, identify significant fluctuations, and provide explanations.
• Prepare monthly property reports and other financial analyses for the Controller’s and senior management’s review.
• Respond to requests for internal management reports and provide financial information to support business decisions.
• Assist in preparing and reviewing annual operating budgets and financial forecasts.
• Track and analyze property-level operating expenses, job costs, and other financial metrics.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, company accounting policies, and established internal controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures, financial reporting processes, and overall efficiency.
