Job summary

Newmark is seeking an accounting professional to support a portfolio of commercial real estate properties. Under supervision, you will handle full-cycle accounting, journal entries, accruals, bank reconciliations, and monthly reporting while serving internal and external clients.

The role emphasizes collaboration with the Controller/Assistant Controller, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to process improvements. A hybrid work schedule and comprehensive benefits package are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in accounting.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of accounting experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Outlook.
• Experience with a computerized ERP system; Yardi or MRI a plus.
• Experience with full-cycle accounting and preparing financial statement packages.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of GAAP and FASB regulations.
• Team oriented with customer service mindset.

Responsibilities

• Complete full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial real estate properties.
• Prepare daily, monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reporting.
• Provide high-level customer service to property managers and clients.
• Develop process improvements and train new staff as needed.
• Coordinate with Controller/Assistant Controller on day-to-day tasks.
• Mentor and develop junior accounting staff.
• Review reports for accuracy and completeness as needed.
• Assist property managers with budgets and CAM reconciliations when required.
• Support client audits and SOC1 audit samples.
