Senior Executive Recruiter at LHH/Parker and Lynch

LHH is working with a real estate company in the Dallas area that is seeking a new Senior Accountant. This person will be responsible for managing accounting functions related to designated properties, including preparing financial reports, recording accrual and cash journal entries, reviewing operating statements and variance reports, conducting escalation and payable reviews, and performing reconciliations. Proficiency with real estate accounting software (e.g., MRI, Yardi) is essential for performing client accounting tasks.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review tenant billings and adjustments for review and posting.
  • Oversee and post cash receipt batches managed by the Client Accounting Associate. Maintain accurate property cash balances.
  • Review and approve significant accounts payable disbursements (e.g., Weekly A/P batches). Prepare weekly Open A/P reports for check-run processing.
  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations for all assigned bank accounts.
  • Review monthly Rent Roll postings by property management and verify changes from the prior month, including new move-ins/outs and rent adjustments.
  • Monitor aged delinquency reports for necessary adjustments and ensure accurate application of cash receipts to tenant accounts.
  • Review and revise supporting schedules for monthly charges as required by the Owner. Ensure sub-ledgers and schedules align with the general ledger.
  • Analyze the general ledger and income statement for additional adjusting entries. Confirm with the PM before booking the entries.
  • Validate that financial statements and monthly reports are consistent with supporting schedules. Submit monthly financial reports to the accounting manager.
  • Monitor cash balances of property bank accounts.
  • Assist with the review of prior year CAM and real estate tax escalation reconciliations and respond to auditor queries as needed.
  • Prepare calculations for owner distributions according to owner requirements and schedules. Initiate monthly owner distributions as per the Property Management Agreement.
  • Prepare and post monthly rent-up reports after receiving property manager approvals. Make necessary corrections or adjustments to tenant ledgers as directed.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of recent experience in fee-based property management accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of financial terms and principles, including current accounting methods (cash and basic accruals) and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Experience with budget reporting requirements and participation in annual budget preparation with property management teams.
  • Proficiency in real estate accounting software, preferably MRI and/or Yardi.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe.
