Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a React Software Engineer to rebuild customer-facing applications from the ground up. You will help define the architecture, engineering standards, and development practices that will power the next generation of front-end experiences.

You will work closely with architects, backend engineers, DevOps, security, and product teams to deliver fast, secure, maintainable web applications while establishing best practices across the organization.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• 5+ years building production applications with React.
• Deep expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of modern front-end architecture and design patterns.
• Experience with state management solutions such as Redux, Zustand, or React Query/TanStack Query.
• Experience consuming RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL services.
• Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility (WCAG), and cross-browser compatibility.
• Experience with automated testing using Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, Playwright, or similar frameworks.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with cloud-native deployments and containerized applications.
• Strong understanding of secure software development practices and DevSecOps principles.
• Experience working in Agile product teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of modern customer-facing web applications using React and TypeScript.
• Define the front-end architecture including component libraries, state management, routing, authentication, and API patterns.
• Modernize legacy applications with decoupled front-end architectures.
• Collaborate with backend teams to build REST/GraphQL APIs.
• Establish engineering standards for code quality, testing, and security.
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for front-end apps within a DevSecOps environment.
• Integrate automated testing and security validation into development.
• Champion reusable UI components and design systems across apps.
• Mentor engineers and grow front-end capabilities across the team.
• Evaluate emerging front-end technologies to improve productivity.
