Job summary

Hatch Ltd. in Chicago, IL is seeking a Senior Railway Bridge Construction Manager & Inspector to lead planning, inspection, rehabilitation, construction, and maintenance of railway bridge infrastructure across North America.

The role requires extensive field leadership and a track record delivering complex bridge programs within safe railway operations. The candidate will oversee multidisciplinary teams, coordinate with rail owners and contractors, and ensure compliance with AREMA, FRA, AASHTO,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with structural/construction focus.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois or reciprocity.
• Minimum 15 years of railway bridge construction/inspection experience.
• Experience as Construction Manager/Resident Engineer/Project Manager on major projects.
• Strong knowledge of AREMA, FRA, AASHTO, OSHA standards.
• Experience coordinating in active railway environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead rehabilitation, maintenance, strengthening, and replacement projects from planning through construction.
• Act as Construction Manager/Resident Engineer/Project Manager for railway bridge projects.
• Oversee contractor performance, schedule, cost control, safety, and quality assurance.
• Coordinate with railway operations to minimize service disruptions.
• Lead inspection programs and asset-management planning for bridges.
• Develop construction staging, outage plans, and traffic management strategies.
• Mentor junior staff and support business development.
