Job summary

Burns Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Senior Systems Engineering Specialist to lead the development, integration, and verification of complex train control and signaling systems. The role is within the Signals, Communications & Train Control team in Pittsburgh or Philadelphia, PA.

You will focus on requirements management, system architecture, interface coordination, and system integration, providing technical leadership across the project lifecycle and mentoring junior engineers and designers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• 10+ years progressive railroad engineering experience, including system engineering.
• PE license preferred or plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead systems engineering for complex rail train control and signaling projects.
• Develop and manage requirements throughout the lifecycle with traceability and change control.
• Develop system architecture and functional allocations for implementation of train control solutions.
• Author technical papers on system functionality enhancements balancing safety and operational objectives.
• Coordinate interfaces across subsystems and with internal/external stakeholders.
• Maintain interface control documentation and resolve interface issues.
