Job summary

Iowa Interstate Railroad, LLC is seeking a Trainmaster in Silvis, IL to direct railroad operations, lead the Transportation Department, and ensure safe, efficient movement of trains in alignment with rules and regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum two years as a qualified locomotive engineer and/or conductor preferred.
• Broad knowledge of GCOR, Track Warrants, Timetables, Safety Rules, CFR 217/218/240/242, labor agreements.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership in Transportation Department activities.
• Supervises T&E employees for safe and effective performance.
• Coordinates daily train and switching operations with Dispatchers and other Trainmasters.
• Monitors operations with Dispatchers to ensure plan execution and safety.
• Conducts operations/efficiency tests and safety meetings.
• Focuses on fuel efficiency, operating improvements, and reducing freight damage through crew training.
• Ensures compliance with IAIS safety rules, regulations, and agreements.
• Interfaces with IAIS departments, customers, and connecting Carriers to meet expectations.
• Controls costs to meet budget goals.
• Investigates incidents and recommends corrective action.
• Reports promptly on problems affecting safe operation of trains.
• Follows safety procedures and stays aware of operating rule changes.
• Works scheduled hours including overtime, holidays, nights and weekends; on-call 24/7 as needed.
• Relieves Trainmasters as required.
• Demonstrates IAIS values and ethics.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
