Job summary

Ascend Performance Materials is seeking a Sr. Mode Manager - Barge & Rail to lead rail and barge transportation, fleet management, and procurement activities across the Americas.

You will work with Procurement and Supply Chain to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective movement of materials. This role covers governance of waterborne and rail logistics, data accuracy in SAP/TMS, and KPI ownership to drive network performance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Procurement, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, procurement, or carrier management.
• Proficiency with SAP, Transportation Management Systems and reporting tools.
• Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. DOT Hazmat certification.

Responsibilities

• Support barge and rail transportation strategy in partnership with Procurement and Supply Chain organizations.
• Develop and maintain raw material supply schedules supporting manufacturing operations.
• Ensure safe and efficient barge loading, discharge, and rail transportation activities.
• Provide daily visibility and tracking of transportation assets, communicating schedule changes and delays.
• Manage barge and rail fleet sizing, utilization, and equipment availability.
• Oversee barge and railcar maintenance programs and regulatory compliance.
• Audit and approve rail, barge, and non-TMS transportation invoices with pricing accuracy.
• Maintain data in SAP, TMS, and other logistics systems for execution and reporting.
• Analyze freight spend and carrier performance to identify cost savings and efficiency gains.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, service, cost, and Process excellence.
