Job summary

APTIM is seeking an experienced Senior Radiological Control Technician to support Department of Energy (DOE) decontamination, decommissioning, and remediation (DD&R) radiological field operations at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) – Bettis Laboratory Site in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania.

This role provides advanced radiological control oversight, plans and leads complex radiological surveys, and ensures controls are implemented safely and in compliance with 10 CFR 835 and project requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three years of operational health physics experience.
• HAZWOPER 40-hour certification with up-to-date refresher training.
• Ability to obtain medical qualification to wear respiratory protection.
• Ability to work in Level D and Level C PPE, including respirators.
• Ability to work in office and field environments, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to work overtime as required.
• Proficiency with standard office software (Word, Excel).
• REAL ID-compliant ID required for site access.

Responsibilities

• Perform radiological control activities under supervision per 10 CFR 835 and site procedures.
• Operate, maintain, and perform checks on radiation detection and measurement instrumentation.
• Conduct radiological surveys and sampling, including contamination, radiation, and airborne monitoring, and document results.
• Provide radiological coverage for workers and ensure RWPs and work documents compliance.
• Assist in implementing and maintaining radiological control program elements.
