Job description

The Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County (“BXDA”), is committed to ensuring public safety and providing justice for over 1.4 million residents. BXDA focuses on assisting crime victims and ensuring fairness for defendants, striving for excellence in representing the Bronx community.

We seek experienced investigators to work with attorneys in the Conviction Integrity Bureau, which investigates claims of innocence and wrongful convictions, primarily in homicide cases. The investigator will collaborate with attorneys to select cases for reinvestigation, develop strategies, and execute investigations, including witness interviews and evidence collection.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Review case files and develop investigation plans with ADAs.
  2. Identify and locate high-value witnesses.
  3. Interview witnesses locally, nationally, and internationally.
  4. Locate evidence and coordinate forensic testing.
  5. Coordinate with law enforcement agencies.

Candidate must possess a valid NYS driver’s license.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent and three years of investigative experience, including one in rackets or police work.
Preferred Skills
  • At least 15 years as a detective or investigator, with experience in homicides, cold cases, or sexual offenses. NYPD experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to examine evidence and conduct interviews.
  • Experience with forensic evidence and digital investigation techniques.
  • Proficiency with databases and social media research.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Valid NYS driver’s license required.
