Job summary

Google Sunnyvale is seeking a Share Senior Rack Power Engineer to help design and deliver resilient data center power solutions, from rack level to UPS architectures. You will lead projects, collaborate with multiple teams, and contribute to power conversion modeling and field troubleshooting.

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Physics and 4 years of experience; a Master’s or PhD is preferred for advanced leadership and innovation roles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4 years of experience in a power converter design environment for data center power delivery or similar.

Responsibilities

• Innovate and design on rack and data center power conversion specifications and solutions.
• Analyze performance, cost, reliability and availability trade-offs.
• Lead projects involving new technologies or multiple existing technologies.
• Partner with power industry leaders to adopt compelling technologies.
• Engage cross-functionally to ensure successful roll-out, testing and validation, and troubleshoot system-level power delivery issues.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• 1 year of experience in technical leadership.
• Experience in power converter design, including AC/DC rectifiers, solar inverters, UPS, and variable speed drives.
• Experience in data center power system design including micro-grid design.
• Knowledge on power converter modeling and simulation and ability to troubleshoot field issues.
• Excellent investigative, communication and organizational skills, coupled with a well-focused attention to detail, and ability to work effectively with cross-functional project teams.
