Job summary

Imperative Care, Campbell, California, is seeking a Senior R&D Test Engineer to design and execute robust tests for advanced medical devices on-site.

Lead test method development, fixture design, and automated data collection to quantify device performance; work closely with preclinical and design teams on verification and validation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 5+ years of related experience, or master's with 2+ years in the medical device or related regulated industry.
• Experience in product testing, test method development, validation, and automated data collection.
• Ability to design and document test fixtures including generation of technical drawings.
• Working knowledge of standard laboratory equipment such as mechanical test frames, load cells, pressure sensors, environmental conditioning chambers, scales, etc.
• Use of statistical analysis techniques, gage R&R, and DOE.
• Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics; CFD a plus.
• Experience working under regulated quality systems such as GMPs, ISO 13485/9001, and the MDD.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Measure and quantify device characteristics via experimental design.
• Develop test methods and equipment for performance evaluation and concept selection.
• Collaborate with preclinical and design groups for verification and validation.
• Maintain and advance bench testing technologies and provide training.
• Identify opportunities and implement improvements in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
