R&D Engineering Technician
Duration: 3 year contract
We are seeking a highly motivated R&D Engineering Technician to support the development of innovative medical products in a collaborative engineering environment. This role contributes directly to prototype development, testing, and validation activities. The ideal candidate is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and capable of working independently with periodic engineering guidance. Experience with pneumatics and sensor‑based systems is strongly preferred. This position works under engineering direction and may coordinate the work of 1–3 technicians on a project basis, while maintaining regular interaction with cross‑functional teams, vendors, and manufacturing partners.
Build and support R&D test fixtures based on engineering specifications, including providing design feedback
Contribute to fixture and test protocol design, documentation, and process improvements
Execute test protocols with minimal supervision and document results in accordance with established procedures
Assemble prototype systems and subsystems, offering input to design enhancements
Present test findings, analysis, and improvement recommendations to project teams
Collaborate with vendors and manufacturing teams to support assembly processes and troubleshooting
Source components and materials as needed to support development efforts
Troubleshoot complex electrical circuits, mechanical systems, software functionality, and accessories with engineering guidance
Support broader departmental activities and maintain an organized, efficient laboratory environment
Manage multiple priorities while providing progress updates to stakeholders
High School Diploma + 6 years of relevant experience, OR
Technical Certificate + 3 years of experience, OR
Associate’s Degree in a technical discipline
Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical engineering fundamentals
Hands‑on experience building prototypes from schematics and technical drawings
Ability to perform surface mount rework (PWB level)
Skilled in component‑level troubleshooting
Familiarity with test methods, lab equipment, and documentation practices
Ability to follow and contribute to test protocols and technical reports
Experience using both basic and advanced lab tools
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments
Comfortable working independently while contributing to team objectives
Pneumatics and sensor integration experience preferred
Medical device or regulated industry experience is a plus
Proficiency with standard computer and office software tools

This is a Contract position based out of Irvine, CA.
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr.
