Job summary

Stryker Irvine, CA seeks a Senior Staff R&D Systems Engineer to lead cross-functional teams in the development of next-generation vascular thrombectomy platforms, interfacing hardware with digital ecosystems, and guiding prototypes through full product lifecycle.

You will design closed-loop fluid control, model components in CAD/CAE, build data acquisition, and drive transfer to manufacturing while conforming to design controls and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years of direct work experience as a systems engineer for Class II/III medical devices.
• Proven track record in prototyping, verification testing, and cross-functional product strategies.
• Experience with SolidWorks for complex component modeling and manufacturing drawings.
• Practical knowledge of closed-loop fluid systems, real-time sensor feedback, and data analytics.
• Familiarity with medical device design controls, risk management, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop closed-loop fluid control systems with real-time data acquisition.
• Model mechanical, fluidic, and electromechanical components and create engineering drawings.
• Specify functional requirements and evaluate designs for lifecycle cost and reliability.
• Build data acquisition frameworks for high-frequency sensor data analysis.
• Lead automated V&V testing infrastructures and custom fixtures using LabVIEW or Python.
• Lead assembly, bring-up, and stress-testing of R&D prototypes.
• Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Clinical teams.
• Drive transfer of NPD projects to high-volume manufacturing.
