Job summary

The J.M. Smucker Company is seeking a Senior Technician, R&D Pilot Plant in Orrville, OH. This onsite role supports our Coffee Process Research Lab by safely operating process equipment and executing experimental test plans with R&D teams.

You will manage data collection, troubleshoot equipment, and help maintain SOPs, JSA, and LOTO documentation while collaborating across technical teams in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years operating, maintaining, or troubleshooting processing equipment.
• Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices including SOPs, LOTO, and JSA processes.
• Ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment issues independently.

Responsibilities

• Set up and safely operate Process Laboratory equipment; train R&D employees on safe operation.
• Lead execution of test plans; confirm material and equipment readiness; collect data and report deviations.
• Troubleshoot operational and equipment issues and recommend improvements.
• Maintain and update SOPs, JSAs, and LOTO documentation as needed.
• Follow QA and HSE requirements to maintain a safe, compliant pilot plant environment.
• Share daily work updates and communicate with peers and project teams.
• Serve as Process Laboratory area owner with housekeeping and compliance duties.
• Manage operating supply inventory and submit purchase requisitions as needed.
• Coordinate with external resources on new equipment installation and maintenance.
• Complete required training to maintain and build technical capabilities.
