Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, NM, is seeking a Senior/Principal R&D Nuclear Engineer to advance modeling and simulation for safeguards and security in modern nuclear facilities. You will lead cross-disciplinary efforts across chemical, mechanical, and computer science teams, develop novel techniques, and engage with domestic and international partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five years of directly relevant experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
• Strong mix of research and development capabilities for nuclear safety, security, and safeguards.

Responsibilities

• Develop new models, perform analyses, validate results, and document work on safety, safeguards, and security of reactors and facilities.
• Work with engineers across fields to deliver technical products for federal sponsor needs.
• Develop research ideas and proposals for new projects related to nuclear safety, security, and safeguards.
• Plan, develop, and deliver technical training to researchers, industry, and government officials.
• Characterize nuclear and radiological inventories through the fuel cycle lifecycle.
• Disseminate results via reports, journal articles, and conferences; travel as needed.
