Job summary

Prysmian Group seeks an experienced R&D Materials Senior Engineer for our Taunton, MA site. You will lead formulation development, own compound specifications, and translate lab work into production-ready materials for power and telecom cables.

This hands-on role focuses on rubber and plastics formulations in an industrial setting. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize performance, cost, and sustainability, while guiding project timelines and ensuring robust material

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on polymer compound development and processing in an industrial setting.
• Experience with specialty rubber and plastic formulations (CSPE, CPE, Neoprene, flame-retardant systems).
• Strong understanding of structure–property relationships in polymer blends and how formulation impacts performance.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and communicate results across levels and functions.

Responsibilities

• Lead compound development projects from bench scale through commercialization.
• Formulate with specialty rubbers and plastics to achieve targeted performance, cost, and sustainability outcomes.
• Support production-scale trials and coordinate lab work to meet project timelines.
• Develop and maintain compound specifications, raw material codes, and quality test programs.
• Investigate new polymers, additives, and technologies from suppliers for cost reduction and performance gains.
• Prepare clear technical reports and maintain databases on compound changes and performance.
• Act as onsite materials SME, partnering with cross-functional teams to improve compounds and processes.
