Job summary

Infleqtion is seeking a Staff Quantum Sensor Physicist to translate customer needs into practical atom-based sensor architectures. You will work on inertial and gravitational sensors, leading development from concept through deployment, supported by physics models and error budgets.

The role requires a PhD in atomic/optical physics and experience with AMO hardware, with travel up to 10%. The targeted salary range is $166,000 to $256,000 per year, plus incentive eligibility.

Qualifications

• Ability to balance physics performance with reliability and cost.

Responsibilities

• Participate in/lead R&D on atom interferometry and quantum sensing systems.
• Translate customer needs into practical sensor architectures and requirements.
• Lead or support development from concept to deployment.
• Develop physics models and error budgets to guide design decisions.
• Evaluate sensor concepts against real-world constraints (cost, SWaP, reliability).
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary engineering teams to build instruments.
• Participate in proposals and customer discussions; report progress.
• Travel domestically and up to 10% internationally as needed.
