Job summary

D-Wave is seeking a Staff Software Developer to join our Processor Software team. You will develop core software interfacing directly with quantum processors across production and lab environments.

You will lead architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and collaborate with scientists and software teams to deliver scalable, high-performance solutions. Responsibilities include full lifecycle software development, calibration/operational software, and on-call support for QPU solvers on the Leap

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related discipline with hardware-integrated systems experience.
• 7+ years of software development experience delivering complex software systems.
• Expertise in high-performance software using compiled languages and multithreaded environments.
• Strong software architecture, algorithms, concurrency, and performance optimization knowledge.
• Experience designing interfaces to hardware systems and developing reliable software for engineering/scientific apps.
• Experience with Git workflows and Linux environments.
• Proven track record leading technical initiatives and mentoring developers.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design and development across full software lifecycle.
• Design and maintain software supporting calibration, hardware interfaces, and monitoring of quantum processors.
• Drive architecture and technical direction for scalable, high-performance solutions.
• Analyze and optimize software for performance and reliability.
• Mentor developers through architectural reviews and code reviews.
• Champion best practices and drive cross-team collaboration.
• Participate in on-call rotation to support QPU solvers on Leap cloud platform.
