Job summary

Quantinuum, based in Broomfield, CO, seeks an Advanced Software Engineer to develop software interfacing with lab equipment powering quantum systems. You will build robust software that automates lab processes and supports physicists and hardware teams.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in lab/research software, 2+ years in Python/C++, and experience with devices, protocols, and instrumentation libraries. US-person requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 4+ years of graduate and/or industry experience developing software in a laboratory or research environment.
• 2+ years of experience with Python, C++, or similar object-oriented language.
• 1+ years of experience developing software that communicates with physical hardware via device interfaces or instrumentation libraries.
• U.S. Person status per contractual requirements (citizenship, permanent resident, or eligible).
• Not a PRC or Russian national unless also a U.S. citizen.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain software systems that automate lab processes and orchestrate lab instrument interactions.
• Collaborate with physicists and hardware engineers to understand lab workflows and deliver tailored tools.
• Develop and maintain internal dashboards to visualize equipment status and system health.
• Enhance observability and error reporting for end users.
• Write clean, maintainable, testable code in a fast-paced R&D environment.
• Deploy and support lab software throughout its lifecycle.
• Diagnose and resolve software issues across the stack with broader team support as needed.
• Contribute to CI/CD workflows and automated testing and builds.
• Help define software development best practices and code review standards.
• Occasional travel up to 10%.
