Job summary

Atom Computing is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build high-performance control systems for our quantum computing platform.

You will work across embedded software, real-time systems, GPU/FPGA acceleration, and hardware orchestration to deliver deterministic, high-throughput control pipelines.

This role requires in-office attendance in Boulder or Austin at least 3 days per week and collaboration with theory, software, and hardware teams.

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of relevant postgraduate professional experience.
• Proficiency in C++, Python, Rust, or Go; CUDA or FPGA design experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and test embedded firmware and software for high-speed SDRs and real-time systems.
• Design low-latency software for quantum hardware including drivers and kernel modules.
• Evaluate real-time strategies across Linux and RTOS for determinism and throughput.
• Develop orchestration layers for GPUs, FPGAs, and custom electronics for quantum control.
• Prototype using Rust, Python, C/C++, CUDA, and FPGA toolchains (VHDL/Verilog).
• Collaborate with theorists and engineers to translate quantum control flows into production code.
