Job summary

Quantinuum seeks a Principal Quantum Applications Scientist in Broomfield, CO to evaluate quantum applications and map them to our hardware roadmap. You will work across hardware, theory, and applications teams to assess feasibility, value, and resource needs, while producing external‑facing documents.

Qualifications

• Master's degree minimum in a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of industrial research experience.
• U.S. person required (citizen, permanent resident, or green card).
• National security: PRC/Russian nationals restricted unless U.S. citizen.

Responsibilities

• Conduct cross‑industry evaluation of quantum applications for trapped‑ion quantum computers.
• Evaluate quantum algorithm scaling, trade‑offs, and cross‑over points for applications on trapped‑ion systems.
• Collaborate with algorithms, benchmarking, and applications teams on proposals.
• Map quantum algorithms to real‑world business processes.
• Benchmark algorithms and applications.
• Communicate results via reports, presentations, and documentation.
• Report findings to customers and senior management in technical and non‑technical terms.
• Perform risk analysis and mitigation planning for research roadmap.
