Job description

Overview

John Sisk and Son are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to assist on an airside & landside civil engineering project at Dublin Airport.

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take full commercial responsibility and ownership for the project, working closely with the Contracts Manager/Project Manager and the construction team to ensure a successful project is delivered, while maintaining relationships and maximizing commercial returns and managing risk.

Responsibilities
  1. Integrate the commercial strategy, amending with MQS to suit the project as it develops.
  2. Liaise with & commercially influence/challenge the other members of the team and the construction process.
  3. Take ownership for, administer & represent the company in commercial & contractual issues, including but not limited to:
  4. Preparing tenders, analysing, selecting appropriate s/c & finalising s/c orders, financial & commercially manage to Final Account completion.
  5. Prepare & present forecasts, targets & CV reconciliations.
  6. Prepare & agree valuations, including generating certificates & invoices/payments.
  7. Variations prepare with adequate/appropriate records, agree as works progress.
  8. Update projected Final Accounts on a regular basis and prepare, submit & agree Final Account in a timely manner.
  9. Involvement in value engineering & design development.
  10. Maintain & protect JSS commercial & contractual entitlement.
  11. Site records/admin & document control.
  12. Insurance & warranties.
  13. Risk/opportunity management.
  14. Review & update project risk/opportunity plan, monitoring for changes & consider within any forecast reports.
  15. Manage risk arising.
  16. Manage opportunity.
Experience
  1. 5+ years’ experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in residential/commercial construction projects.
  2. Ability to communicate articulately, both verbally & in writing.
  3. Manage both people & situations sensitively to commercial advantage.
  4. Commercially inventive & astute.
  5. Demonstrate ownership and commercial awareness.
  6. Effective time management, organisational, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  7. Have experience mentoring and managing others.
  8. Able to balance the need to be assertive and pragmatic when dealing with a broad range of stakeholders.
