Job summary

Applied Materials, Inc. in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced Quality Welding Engineer (E5) to support fabrication of ultra-high-purity gas delivery systems for semiconductor equipment.

You will own weld quality across the fabrication lifecycle, from procedure qualification to nonconformance resolution, in a controlled cleanroom environment. The ideal candidate has deep orbital GTAW and 316L stainless steel metallurgy expertise, fluency with SEMI standards, and hands-on experience with OEM

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Welding, Materials/Metallurgical, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years welding engineering or weld quality experience in semiconductor capital equipment or high-purity fabrication.
  • SEMI standards knowledge: F78, F81, E49.8, F70.
  • Experience with orbital GTAW welding equipment from OEMs such as AMI/Polysoude/Orbitalum.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain WPS and PQR for orbital GTAW of UHP lines, gas panels, and chamber weldments.
  • Oversee welder qualification programs and ensure operator readiness.
  • Audit SEMI standards compliance and maintain weld documentation and travelers.
  • Provide metallurgical oversight of 316L stainless steel and passivation.
  • Coordinate root-cause investigations and 8D/CAPA on weld issues.
