Job summary

Vulcan Elements in Durham, NC (moving to Benson, NC) seeks a Senior Manager, Quality to build and lead the Quality organization for the Benson manufacturing facility, establish the plant QMS, and drive ISO 9001 certification.

You will stand up analytical laboratory and production quality capabilities, oversee nonconformance handling, calibration, audits, PFMEAs, Control Plans, and process development for commercial production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years in manufacturing quality, with 5+ years in leadership.
• Experience in materials-intensive and/or precision-parts manufacturing.
• Proven capability with PFMEAs, Control Plans, MSA, SPC, inspection plans, and corrective actions.
• Experience with APQP/PPAP and customer qualification.
• Experience establishing or leading a manufacturing QMS and ISO 9001.
• Strong customer-facing problem solving and communication (RCA/8D).

Responsibilities

• Build and lead the Benson Quality organization including quality engineering, laboratory, metrology/inspection, and supplier quality.
• Establish the plant Quality Management System and drive ISO 9001 certification.
• Develop processes for nonconformance handling, traceability, calibration, audits, change control, and continuous improvement.
• Stand up the analytical laboratory and production inspection capability for product commissioning and full-rate manufacturing.
• Translate customer drawings and specifications into measurable manufacturing controls and acceptance criteria.
• Lead cross-functional transfer and ensure robust quality controls across the value stream.
• Own process capability, first-pass yield, supplier quality, and product release readiness.
