Job summary

HORST ENGINEERING & MANUFACTURING CO seeks a Senior Quality Inspector to perform full and first-piece inspections of aerospace components in our East Hartford plant. You will record dimensions, verify conformance to blueprints and certifications, and review related process documentation to ensure quality compliance.

The role requires a 5+ year background in quality inspection, familiarity with FAI/PPAP, and experience with GE Aviation or Pratt & Whitney/Aero OEM suppliers.

Qualifications

• AS degree in engineering or technical field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in quality inspection.
• Experience with aerospace customers and PPAP/FAI knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform full inspections and first piece inspections.
• Record dimensions per process sheets, drawings, and reports.
• Review process certifications and ensure compliance.
• Conduct visual and dimensional inspection using micrometers, calipers and gages.
• Resolve customer issues and work with internal teams on technical problems.
• Work independently or with a team and apply good judgment.

Senior Quality Inspector

Full Time Technical East Hartford, CT, US

Salary Range: $28.00 To $36.00 Annually

The Senior Inspector is primarily responsible for inspecting and recording dimensions of aerospace components. Ensuring product and certification conformance to blueprint and customer specifications.

This role is for 1st or 2nd shift. 1st shift is 7am-3:30. 2nd shift is 3:00 - 11:30pm

This role is 100% in office at our plant in East Hartford, CT.

2nd Shift has a 15% shift differential

Major Areas of Responsibility:

• Perform full inspections; ability to conduct first piece inspections.
• Inspect and record dimensions per process sheets, inspection reports, blueprints and any other applicable documentation.
• Review process certifications.
• Visual and dimensional inspection.
• Utilize appropriate micrometers, calipers, gages and other inspection equipment as required.
• Work to resolve customer issues.
• Work with internal teams to resolve any technical issues.
• Ability to work both independently, utilizing good judgement and as a team.

Requirements:

• A.S. degree in related engineering or technical discipline or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience.
• Experience with GE Aviation, Raytheon Technologies (Collins Aerospace/Pratt & Whitney Aircraft), and other aerospace OEM customers is required.
• Understanding of First Article Inspection Reports (FAI) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) reports. ECAV reports and submissions.
• Familiar with major customer supplier portals including GE Aviation and Raytheon Technologies.
• Familiar with Flight Safety and other critical component processes including ESA, VSE, SPS.
• Strong information technology skills especially related to inspection measuring and test equipment, digital gaging, and quality systems.
• Familiarity with export compliance requirements including DFAR and ITAR.
