Qualifications

Overview

Northwest Human Services is a non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) providing advocacy, quality healthcare, and social services in Marion and Polk counties since 1970. We serve uninsured individuals, families, the homeless, and migrant workers with compassionate, professional medical, dental, psychiatry, mental health, and wraparound services.

Position Details

Location: Northwest Human Services - West Salem Clinic, 1233 Edgewater St. NW, Salem OR 97304

Job Status: Full-Time

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm (In-person, non-remote)

Role Summary

As our Senior Quality Improvement Specialist, you will lead agency-wide improvement efforts, align operations with evolving care goals, and build internal capacity for continuous improvement across all departments. You will utilize methodologies such as the IHI Model for Improvement and other evidence-based tools to guide teams through structured problem-solving, coach staff on QI methods, and translate strategic priorities into measurable results.

Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Alignment: Translate organizational priorities into actionable QI initiatives; provide expert consultation to leadership and departments.
  2. Process Improvement: Use methodologies like IHI Model for Improvement, Lean, PDSA, root cause analysis, and workflow mapping to design, lead, and evaluate projects.
  3. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Guide teams to solve challenges related to access, care coordination, and service delivery.
  4. Training & Coaching: Develop and deliver QI training, mentor staff, and foster a culture of shared ownership.
  5. Data Communication: Create dashboards and reports to transform raw data into insights for stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Quality Management, or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five years leading quality improvement or operational excellence projects in healthcare.
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) or equivalent QI credential (e.g., IHI Improvement Advisor, CPHQ).
  • Proven success applying QI tools and methodologies to drive change.
  • Experience coaching teams in QI tools, facilitating problem-solving, and promoting improvement culture.
  • Strong skills in performance measurement, data visualization, and project tracking using Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
