Job description

Job Summary

The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the highest possible reliability and quality of Manufacturing processes and products. The Senior Quality Engineer will ensure that AMETEK’s products and processes meet established quality standards from the supply chain to the end user by identifying requirements based on customer needs, implementing quality assurance and quality control methods at the points of quality, identifying issues and opportunities, and developing continuous improvement, corrective, and preventive measures. In addition, the Senior Quality Engineer will set up and monitor QMS procedures and processes as well as support NPD processes. This cross‑functional role frequently interacts with management and customers to provide technical assistance related to product expectations, failure analysis, and other quality considerations. The role requires a heightened sense of urgency in resolving quality matters in a fast‑paced environment and the ability to travel to Orange, CA for 6+ weeks for training.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and incorporate Quality Management System (QMS) procedures and processes per ISO 9001, AS9001, AS5553A and Customer Special Requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with all levels of the organization in AMETEK Programmable Power’s goals and objectives.
  • Lead internal audits of other departments for compliance to the QMS. ECO‑QA Review/Approval.
  • Champion activities to investigate and eliminate internal and external quality problems using problem‑solving techniques for determining containment, root cause, and corrective/preventive action solutions along with verification actions.
  • Participate as required in new product development, perform HALT, analyze data and perform design reviews to create acceptance criteria, specifications and control limits for product, components and manufacturing.
  • Lead reviews, failure analysis and corrective action reports on reliability and technical issues for both field and internal manufacturing issues.
  • Direct efforts of Quality Technicians and other staff as assigned. Support MRB activities.
  • Support quality issues in production lines and nonconforming material disposition.
  • Lead quality improvement projects such as reduction of warranty, scrap and yield improvement.
  • Support OpEx initiatives and expansion projects.
  • Act as Quality POC (Point of Contact) to key customer account assigned.
  • Demonstrate a high level of technical competence related to electronics and electromechanical box build product assembly manufacturing technology, focusing on consistent quality and reliability.
  • Review product documentation packages to comply with customer or government contract requirements and provide source inspection support.
  • Provide supplier quality engineering support.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing or Quality.
  • 6 years of experience within a quality function in an electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Legal right to work in the U.S. and authorized to access export‑controlled information and source code.

  • Ability to lead and facilitate a group of technical experts in root cause analysis.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 and/or ISO 9001:2015.
  • Knowledge of product manufacturing, assembly, test, and inspection processes.
  • Capable of using electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DVMs, Signal Generators, etc.
  • Use of quality tools FMEA, Quality Control Plans, SPC, Metrics and Product/Process Capability to ensure quality attainment via process validation.
  • Knowledge of complex circuits, technical circuits and mechanical designs.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member.
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Power BI and Excel.
  • Experience with ERP systems, Oracle, SAP, and Business solution systems such as Sales Force.
  • ASQ Quality Engineer Certified preferred.
  • Experience with power supplies or data acquisition systems is a plus.
  • Experience with IPC 600, IPC 610, and IPC 620 requirements.
  • Ability to prepare reports and present data to the Management team or key customers.
  • Power BI proficiency.
