Smalley is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer in Illinois to lead quality initiatives across automotive, aerospace, and medical segments. You will apply statistical methods to analyze data, drive improvements, and resolve questions from internal and external customers.

Collaboration with multiple departments and audits are essential responsibilities. The role requires a mechanical/industrial engineering degree, 5–8 years in manufacturing quality, and strong experience with IATF 16949, ISO 13485,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a mechanical or industrial engineering required.
• Minimum 5 - 8 years+ of work experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Automotive, aerospace, medical production experience in quality preferred.
• Experience with IATF 16949, ISO 13485, AS 9100, and other Quality standards and procedures.
• Experience with PPAPs, FMEAs, QMS, EMS, Continuous Improvement, and Audits required.
• Ability to use statistical tools and methods to analyze data, make determinations, and provide direction to management.
• Used tools like correlation, regression, gage R&R, process capability, statistical process control, analysis of variance
• Experience with statistical process control to improve manufacturing capability
• Strong corrective action background with problem-solving skills and root cause analysis
• Experience facilitating team in use of structured problem-solving tools such as fishbone, 5-Why, and similar
• Ability to project manage multiple key quality type projects with deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Automotive, aerospace, medical production experience in quality preferred

Responsabilités

• Lead key continuous improvement quality projects
• Apply statistical methods to analyze data and improve production efficiency
• Collaborate with customers to address questions and resolve issues
• Coordinate with departments to drive corrective actions and verification
• Support inspection, internal investigations and dispositioning of material
• Conduct internal, customer and supplier audits as needed
• Other duties as needed
