Job summary

Rocket Lab Optical Systems in Chantilly, VA is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer I to assure customer, regulatory, and internal quality throughout the lifecycle of space hardware. You will implement inspection methods, lead root-cause analyses, and drive corrective actions in a fast-paced defense-grade environment.

The role requires 5+ years in quality engineering within manufacturing, AS9100 exposure, and the ability to read drawings (GD&T). Travel and security clearance may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in Quality Engineering or QA within manufacturing.
• AS9100 experience preferred; confident with NCRs, CAPA, MRB/FRB.

Responsibilities

• Develop inspection methods to verify quality and workmanship.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Manage NCRs, CAPA, MRB/FRB activities and audits.
• Train teams on workmanship standards, ESD, and FOD.
• Analyze quality data with Power BI and Power Apps.
• Maintain metrology controls and calibration programs.
• Support continuous improvement across production and programs.
