Description
Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for all engineering aspects of the company's quality function and analyzing manufacturing processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for all engineering aspects of the company's quality function.
- Responds to customer inquiries via telephone, fax, letters, and in person; provides technical assistance and determines appropriate dispositions.
- Serves as the primary quality resource for problem identification, resolution, and continuous improvement.
- Acts as the quality representative to customer source contacts.
- Provides technical assistance and training to production and manufacturing engineering personnel.
- Participates in Contract Review to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Prepares quality control plans and inspection travelers.
- Defines inspection methods and selects appropriate gauges.
- Participates in corrective actions, including root cause analysis and preventive measures.
- Interfaces with supplier and customer quality representatives to resolve quality issues.
- Assists with inspections for new products.
- Ensures activities comply with the Quality Management System.
- Creates and maintains quality system documentation.
- Schedules work for inspectors and manages resources.
- Oversees daily activities of quality inspectors and reports inspection status.
Qualifications
- Broad knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management System.
- Proficiency with CMM, surface plate technology, shop math, and inspection instruments; blueprint reading preferred.
- Strong analytical and technical communication skills.
- Proficient in data analysis, presentation, and Microsoft Office; familiarity with ERP systems like Epicor is a plus.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree or 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent.
Language Skills
- Ability to interpret scientific, technical, financial, and legal documents; respond to inquiries; and present information effectively to management and groups.
