Qualifications

  • Minimum 2–3 years of production Supplier Quality Engineering experience beyond education.
  • 6–10 years combined Manufacturing/Quality Engineering and/or Quality Systems experience.
  • Experience in an ISO certified environment.
  • 2–3 years of experience with medical device or other regulated industries.
  • Strong communication and negotiation with suppliers.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience with cross‑functional teams and working independently.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); Visio preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support MRB activities and ensure proper dispositioning of nonconforming product; manage SCARs.
  • Apply data‑driven problem‑solving to improve key quality metrics (e.g., First Pass Yield).
  • Collaborate with Sourcing/Purchasing to report supplier performance and drive corrective actions.
  • Conduct supplier audits to drive compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and improve key supply chain KPIs and supplier-related complaints.
  • Lead root cause analysis with suppliers to prevent recurrence of non‑conformances.
  • Lead supplier performance improvement projects to raise capability to meet requirements.
  • Assist in development, implementation, and maintenance of supplier procedures and forms.
  • Participate in design reviews and involve suppliers early in the process.
  • Join cross‑functional teams and perform other tasks as assigned.

About The Role

The Supplier Quality Engineer ensures that suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services. This position not only assists with qualifying suppliers, but also it is a critical link between supplier quality, incoming inspection and production activities. In this position, the SQE shall investigate, analyze and resolve supplier quality problems by conducting audits, analyzing defect trends and leading continuous improvement plans. Represents Supplier Quality on product development teams and in external audits.

What You’ll Do
  • Support the non‑conforming material system and review processes which include the following: Material Review Board (MRB) activities and is responsible for ensuring proper dispositioning of the suspect nonconforming product has been carried out, assigning responsibility and ensuring the Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) have been effectively addressed and closed as required once the review has been completed.
  • Utilize data driven problem‑solving methods to improve key quality metrics such as First Pass Yield.
  • Work with Sourcing/Purchasing to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented.
  • Conduct supplier audits to drive compliance, waste elimination, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor, communicate and improve key supply chain KPIs, including Supplier first pass yield and supplier‑related complaints.
  • Champion problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to eliminate recurrence of non‑conformances.
  • Strategically lead supplier performance improvement projects in an effort to increase the supplier capability of consistently meeting requirements.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Procedures, Work Instructions, and any related forms for supplier approval and maintenance.
  • Participates in design reviews for product and/or components and assures that suppliers are involved early in the process.
  • Participate on cross‑functional teams.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
Required Functional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field required; advanced degree is a plus.
  • Candidates must be based near Rush, NY.
  • Minimum work experience required in addition to education above: 2‑3 Years of production Supplier Quality Engineering experience.
  • 6‑10 years combined Manufacturing/Quality Engineering and/or Quality Systems experience.
  • Experience working in an ISO certified environment required. 6‑10 years.
  • 2‑3 years of experience with medical device or other regulated industries.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with suppliers.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills.
  • Focus on identification of potential issues and continuous improvement.
  • Experience working on cross‑functional teams and on own initiative.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational, oral, and written communications skills.
  • Must have PC experience, as well as working familiarity of desktop applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software and Visio preferred.
