Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Sr Quality Engineer to support project scopes, engineering reviews for quality, and related vendor activities. The role reports to the Quality Manager at the Waltz Mill location in Madison, PA, and is hybrid with at least two days in the office per week.

The candidate will verify QMS compliance, approve quality documents, and oversee QA processes including audits, inspections, and regulatory liaison with authorities such as the NRC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or technical field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience with nuclear QA codes and standards (e.g. ASME Section III Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME NQA).
• Familiarity with US NRC regulations such as 10 CFR 50.55, 10 CFR50 Appendix B, and 10 CFR21.
• Experience working with customers, suppliers, regulators and internal technical groups.

Responsibilities

• Verify that Westinghouse engineering, product lines, and manufacturing meet the QMS, procedures, codes and standards, and customer requirements.

About the role:

As a Sr Quality Engineer you will support the product line project scopes for project development, engineering reviews for quality aspects, including related vendor activities. You will help to ensure requirements are maintained to meet the Westinghouse QA Program and the customer requirements.

You will report to the Quality Manager and be located at our Waltz Mill location based in Madison, PA. This is a hybrid position that requires at least 2 days in office per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Verify that internal work scopes by Westinghouse Engineering, Product Lines, and Manufacturing organizations meet the QMS, Level 2 Procedures, Codes and Standards, and Customer requirements.
• Approve procedures, field change requests, drawings, Project Plans, PQPs, and other project and Quality-related documents.
• Perform internal assessments of the Westinghouse processes to ensure compliance.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Verify that all work performed at Westinghouse locations and at Customer sites is according to design requirements, Codes and Standards, and project contract agreements.
• Perform quality surveillance oversight of the Westinghouse field and construction site work scopes for installation, modifications, repairs, assembly, construction, and testing.
• Perform assigned Witness/Hold/Review points as identified in Inspection and Test Plans or Quality plans.
• Monitor Westinghouse sites and field and construction work and verify the preparation and maintenance of the Quality records to the final completion of the required scope.
• Ensure that any deficiencies and nonconformances related to materials, expertise, and processes are followed through and have acceptable disposition.
• Perform and oversee in-process welding, machining, Nondestructive Testing, and other inspection processes.
• Perform pre-shipment reviews and accept the product at Westinghouse facilities.
• Initiate "Stop Work" to ensure compliance to procedures, processes, and codes.
• Be the primary contact with the Authorized Nuclear Inspector (ANI), American Nuclear Insurance Inspector (ANII) or other regulatory authorities.
• Manage the Quality Control (QC) staff (contractors) for project implementation when the QC function is Westinghouse scope.
• Provide Quality Program Indoctrination to the Project Team along with the Project Manager.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or technical degree
• Minimum 6 years of experience with Knowledge and practical experience working with nuclear QA codes and standards (e. g. ASME Section III Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME NQA).
• Relevant experience and application with US NRC Regulations such as 10CFR 50.55, 10CFR50 Appendix B, and 10CFR21
• Demonstrated experience working with customers, suppliers, regulators (e. g. U.S. NRC) and internal technical groups.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $85,200.00 to $106,500.00 per year.
