Job summary

Elliott Company is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to ensure product quality across manufactured and purchased items. You will review specifications, develop quality documentation, perform audits, and lead formal problem-solving (RCA/8D) to resolve complex issues throughout the product lifecycle.

The role requires a mechanical/industrial engineering background with 4–8 years of experience and advanced QA knowledge. Collaboration with multiple internal teams and customers is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
• 4–8 years of related work experience.
• Experience resolving complex technical and quality issues using formal problem-solving methodologies (RCA, 8D, DMAIC).
• Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes, inspection methods and quality engineering principles.
• Preferred: ASQ CQE/CQA/CQT/CQM or Six Sigma Black Belt.

Responsibilities

• Lead RCA and 8D problem-solving to identify and prevent recurrence of quality issues.
• Investigate quality issues from internal audits and NCR analysis; drive resolution.
• Analyze NCR data to identify trends and risks for continuous improvement.
• Conduct complex quality audits and continuous improvement projects.
• Lead MRB meetings to push for NCR closures.
• Provide QA support to internal and external customers; participate in project transfer and pre-inspection meetings.

Overview & Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE JOB The Senior Quality Engineer ensures the quality of all products—both manufactured and purchased—by reviewing customer specifications, developing and maintaining quality documentation, performing audits, and investigating nonconformances. This role supports both internal and external customers and contributes to overall quality assurance throughout the product lifecycle. Furthermore, the Senior Quality Engineer drives formal problem-solving (RCA/8D) to resolve complex issues. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience with rotating equipment (e.g., compressors, turbines, cryogenic pumps), and familiarity with classification society and maritime regulations.

Job Responsibilities / Competencies

• Lead teams in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and 8D problem-solving processes to identify, correct, and prevent recurrence of quality issues
• Proactively identify, investigate, and drive the resolution of quality issues discovered during internal audits, Non-Conformance Report (NCR) analysis, and factory walkdowns.
• Independently analyze Non-Conformance Report (NCR) data to identify adverse trends, systemic risks, and opportunities for proactive investigation and continuous improvement.
• Conduct complex quality audits and continuous improvement projects
• Lead and facilitate Manufacturing Review Board (MRB) meetings to push for closure of Nonconformance Reports (NCRs)
• Acted as the Quality Assurance lead for medium to large complexity projects, working in close collaboration with internal project teams to deliver comprehensive internal and external quality support.
• Apply advanced quality engineering skills, including ITP creation, auditing and continuous improvement
• Participate in internal project transfer, customer kick-off, coordination, and pre-inspection meetings
• Provide Quality Assurance support to internal customers, including Project Management, Engineering, Drafting, Manufacturing, and Purchasing
• Provide project Quality Assurance support to external customers
• Facilitate customer witness of testing and inspections activities
• Deliver complex quality solutions for assigned tasks and projects
• Lead cross-functional teams to ensure the successful completion and ownership of assigned tasks.
• Develop expert knowledge of all Elliott products and processes, including Quality Assurance related inputs and outputs
• Communicate clearly and respectfully to ensure effective and straightforward information exchange across the organization

Background and Experience

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Process, or similar discipline).
• Minimum of 4-8 years of related work experience.
• Demonstrated experience resolving complex technical and quality issues using formal problem-solving methodologies (e.g., Root Cause Analysis, 8D, DMAIC).
• Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes, inspection methods and procedures, inspection equipment, nondestructive testing techniques and quality engineering including analytical skills.
• Advanced knowledge of quality engineering principles.
• Advanced knowledge of operational processes in defined area of work and familiarity with industry practice and standards.
• Preferred: Obtained a Quality Certification such as American Society for Quality (ASQ) CQE, CQA, CQT, CQM, CRE or Six Sigma Black Belt.
